Changing a medical facility, in accordance with the right to health insurance for migrant workers

     After foreign workers and their dependents have had health checks and health insurance and have been registered at a hospital, it may sometimes be necessary to move the medical facility where they receive services. Workers and their dependents may proceed as described below.

1. In the case of changing employer, or in the case of the same employer but changing the workplace, the foreign workers and their dependents have the right to move the hospital to the local area where they are new residents. They should use the petition receipt issued by the original registered medical facility to obtain normal medical and public health services at the new hospital.

2. Foreign workers and their dependents who have the right to change to a new medical facility to receive health insurance services must purchase a health insurance card with the coverage period of 1 year or more, and the remaining coverage period is not less than 6 months. 

  • The foreign worker or a person authorized to act on their behalf should submit a request for transferring to a new medical facility, using the specified form at the registered medical facility. They will have the right to receive medical and public health services at the new hospital the day after filing the petition;
  • Proportional money transfer of health insurance, for the remaining days after the date of submitting the application to the new hospital. The original hospital should transfer money for medical fees to the new hospital and the original Provincial Public Health Office. It should also transfer the management fee and disease prevention promotion fee to the new Provincial Public Health Office from the date of application submission and notify the destinate agency of the transfer;
  • The existing medical facility should record the transfer information through the fund's website, and then proceed to notify and coordinate with the new hospital, and record the transfer information;
  • Relocation documents In the case of an alien moving across the provincial boundary. Notify the Provincial Public Health Office/ service unit/ hospital/ medical facility registered by the alien, and implement the guidelines of foreign workers and their dependents, as given above.
