Health check-up – Foreign workers’ health insurance

Health check-up – Foreign workers’ health insurance

       At present, there are many foreign workers who come to apply for work permits in Thailand. The foreign workers and their dependents who wish to enter Thailand must be in the health insurance system during their working period here, as well. Migrant workers and their followers need to have health insurance, including medical treatment and health promotion, for surveillance, prevention, and control of disease and to reduce the cost burden for hospitals.

The target groups for health check-ups and health insurance are as follows:

1. Foreign workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam who are allowed to stay in Thailand temporarily and are allowed to work temporarily according to the law on immigration and the law on the management of alien workers, including those who are not in the social security system. Employers should report their employees who are insured according to the law on social security, which provides certain rights;

2. Followers of foreign workers aged not over 18 years who are allowed to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand temporarily, according to the law on immigration;

3. Foreigners in the unofficial employment system, from four nationalities: Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam;

4. Persons with status problems and rights, pending proof of rights, and who have not received subsidies for public health services;

5. Foreigners who have been discharged from the National Health Security System. Groups with welfare or health insurance from the government of the country who are foreign citizens, and groups of people who have already been enforced by law must have health insurance, such as student groups, civil servants, employees of international organizations.
