Types of work that foreigners commonly do in Thailand

       The Ministry of Labor reported in October 2022 that there were 2,685,063 foreigners employed in Thailand, who could be divided into two large groups: general workers and skilled workers.

       The group of general workers totaled 2,438,789 foreigners They engaged in employment in the form of cooperation under agreements between the government of Thailand and the governments of countries of origin, including Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, including employment according to cabinet resolutions and seasonal migrant workers. The top three occupations are as follows: 

  1. Labor work, construction; 
  2. Agricultural and livestock affairs, including vegetable farm and fruit orchard work;  
  3. Businesses providing various services.


       Skilled workers and others have 246,269 foreigners working in Thailand. Among these are skill-based employment, investment promotion, and investors with foreign citizens of China, Japan, India, the Philippines, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Myanmar, France, and other nationalities .  The top three occupations in which foreigners work are the following: 

  1. Department manager;  
  2. Teaching career entrepreneurs;  
  3. Managing Director, senior management. 

       The employment statistics of foreigners as reported above are a reflection of the work of foreigners and may foreigners looking for work in Thailand think about their possibilities, considering that Thailand has a wide range of jobs for foreign workers.
