New Passport Guide

New Passport Guide

       A passport is an important document that shows the details of a person traveling abroad. It contains the name, surname, identification number, signature, photograph, age, nationality, religion, occupation, passport number, etc. It facilitates traveling abroad and is an important document that will be used as evidence for applying for a visa to enter certain countries.

       Foreigners traveling for business, work, meetings, or tourism, as well as those who live in Thailand, may at some time need to apply for a new passport because the old one is lost or damaged or has expired. What documents must be prepared and processed? The instructions below are compiled as a guide to make applying for a new passport as trouble-free as possible.

Lost passport replacement

  1. Report to the police at the local police station;
  2. Provide information and records about the lost passport in the report, such as the passport number;
  3. Contact your national embassy in Thailand to apply for a new passport.

In the case of foreigners residing in Thailand
       If you lose your passport, you may apply for an emergency travel document while you haven't got your passport, and if there is no embassy of your country located in Thailand, you should contact the Office of Visas and Foreigners Travel Documents, 3rd Floor, Department of Consular Affairs, Government Complex, Chaengwattana, to request the issuance of an Emergency Certificate (EC).

In the case of a damaged or expired passport
       Please contact your national embassy in Thailand to apply for a new passport. Many embassies will have ways for their citizens to contact them and apply for a new passport online for a fee. When you get the new passport, the embassy should also give you a letter requesting that the Thai Immigration Department put the most recent visa stamps in your passport. Transferring stamps to a new passport is free of charge.
