Young Smart: "Young Do Good" - A platform encouraging children and youth to fearlessly Express and do good

Today, let’s take a look at an excellent project initiated by the Ministry of Culture – the second season of Young Smart: "Young Do Good". The program seeks to support children and young people in fearlessly doing good deeds and expressing their creativity, fostering a sense of pride in Thai culture.

The "Young Smart: Young Do Good" activity falls under a broader social resilience project. It is one of many initiatives designed to encourage children and young people to bravely perform good deeds, with a focus on public and volunteer spirit. The program recognises and rewards role model children and youth with an award to celebrate their achievements.

Driven by the Ministry of Culture, the project aligns with their strategy to awaken consciousness and foster positive values in a virtuous society, set against the backdrop of Thai and global communities. The program is committed to cultivating "Good People, Good Society", in line with the second phase of the National Moral Promotion Plan (2023-2027).

The goal is to observe an increase in ethical behavior among Thais, striving towards a virtuous society where people live together in harmony. The project revolves around religious principles, sufficiency economy philosophy, and the beauty of Thai culture under the desired five virtues: "Sufficiency, Discipline, Honesty, Volunteer Spirit, and Respect."

Hence, driving the strategic plan to create good, competent, and brave individuals and opportunities for society to contribute to the sustainable development of Thailand is in accordance with government policy. All sectors have been directed to integrate their efforts in driving the new generation of children and youth to understand the context of Thailand, the nation's institutions, and the monarchy. This collective endeavor is aimed at making Thais good, competent, brave, creating opportunities, and promoting roles in various aspects of national development.

The second iteration of the "Young Smart: Young Do Good" activity in 2023 continues to support children and youth in bravely doing good deeds and expressing themselves creatively. It instigates public spirit, fosters social resilience, and boosts pride in themselves and Thai culture. The initiative also promotes desired behaviors, recognising the value and benefits of virtue, morality, and the principles of sufficiency, discipline, honesty, volunteer spirit, and respect in daily life.

To qualify, applicants must be children aged between 8 and 15 years old, and youth aged from 15 years old up to 18 years old. They should have previously participated in activities or projects with state or private agencies and exhibit virtue, morality, and volunteer spirit. Moreover, they should possess knowledge in education and possess talents in sports, music, or other special abilities.
