The Ministry of Public Health launches 128 COVID vaccination service points in 31 provinces for tourists

Since the situation of COVID-19 in Thailand is improving, the government has prepared to receive more international travelers as part of its policy of opening the country to foreigners in order to stimulate the economy. The Ministry of Public Health has a policy that requires foreign tourists to get COVID-19 vaccines. There are currently 128 service points spread across 31 provinces, divided into five in the central region, eight northern provinces, six northeastern provinces, eight southern provinces, two eastern provinces, and two western provinces.

In Bangkok, the Ministry of Public Health has five vaccination service units for foreign tourists: Bangrak Medical Center; Urban Disease Prevention and Control Institute (UDC); Institute of Dermatology, Rajavithi Hospital; Lerd Sin Hospital; and Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital.

Outside of the Ministry of Public Health, government service agencies that want to provide a COVID-19 vaccine service to foreign tourists should notify the Department of Disease Control and make a request to support the vaccine through the agency. Private service providers are in the process of developing guidelines and action plans. Therefore, there is no approval to launch the service at this time.

Disease surveillance is still being carried out in both medical facilities and risky areas, and, as the country is preparing to receive more international travelers, agencies are coordinating with the tourism sector to have weekly screening with ATK in the travel providers’ groups, and notifying local health authorities in case of cluster outbreaks.
