Mechanisms driving the food industry in seven aspects toward the BCG model

      Accelerating the development of the Thai food industry in all dimensions, so that it is ready to step into the global market through the use of the BCG model, is a challenge for people in the industry. Although Thailand itself has an abundance of raw materials and is famous for its food, it needs mechanisms that will help drive seven aspects of development, as follows:

1. To accelerate the introduction of new innovations, including automation and digital technology, to be applied in the food production process to reduce costs and increase efficiency and production;

2. The government has measures to encourage entrepreneurs at all levels to adjust the food production process toward green production, which is safe and environmentally friendly, with advisory services, including financial support measures;

3. Public and private sector grants or budget support for research and innovation development, and implementing measures to promote investment in research and development, which will enable the public sector to take more concrete action;

4. The government invests in infrastructure to support innovation development, and it enables product and manufacturing registration, such as a clinical testing agency for testing functional foods, medical food, and functional ingredients;

5. National quality infrastructure for analysis and testing of functional foods;

6. Pilot factories for food production that meet GMP standards, plus an efficient pilot factory management system;

7. The government establishes one-stop services to facilitate business operations in terms of standards, which will add value to production, and it encourages the application of creative economy and branding.
