Alternative Travel Routes from Bangkok to Regional Areas for Convenience and Traffic Problem Reduction

    During various holiday periods such as New Year, Songkran, or consecutive long holidays, people tend to travel for leisure or return to their hometowns in large numbers, causing severe traffic congestion.

     Hence, to facilitate travelers and avoid traffic congestion during the holidays, the Department of Highways has recommended alternative routes for travel from Bangkok to various regions of Thailand on main and secondary highways. This helps the public plan their travel in advance, as follows:

Routes from Bangkok to the North:

     Route 1: From Bangkok to Rangsit (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province - Ang Thong Province - Sing Buri Province (Highway No. 32, Asian Highway) - Mueang Manorom (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road). From there, head to Nakhon Sawan Province.

     Route 2: From Bangkok to Nonthaburi Province (Highway No. 340, Bang Bua Thong - Suphan Buri) - Suphan Buri Province (Highway No. 340, Suphan Buri - Chai Nat) - Chai Nat Province (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road). From there, head to Nakhon Sawan Province.

     Route 3: From Bangkok to Rangsit - Wang Noi District - Saraburi Province - Lopburi Province (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Tak Fa District (Highway No. 11). From there, head to Phitsanulok Province.

     Route 4: From Bangkok to Rangsit - Khlong Luang Intersection (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Chiang Rak Noi (Highway No. 3214) - Highway No. 347 - Highway No. 32. From there, head to the North.

     Route 5: From Bangkok to the Eastern Ring Road (Motorway No. 9) - Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University Intersection - Wang Noi District (Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Rojana Road (Highway No. 309). From there, head to Highway No. 32 and proceed to the North.

Routes from Bangkok to the Northeast Region:

     Route 1: From Bangkok to Saraburi Province (National Highway No.1, Phahonyothin Road) - Muang Khom Subdistrict, Lopburi Province (National Highway No. 21) - Huay Bong Subdistrict (National Highway No. 2256) - Dan Khun Thot District (National Highway No. 2148) - National Highway No. 2, Mittraphap Road, then head to Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

     Route 2: From Bangkok to Wang Noi District (National Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Saraburi Province - Pak Chong District - Sikhio District (National Highway No. 2, Mittraphap Road), then head to Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

     Route 3: From Bangkok to Nakhon Nayok Province (National Highway No. 305) - Ban Na District (National Highway No. 3051) - Kaeng Khoi District (National Highway No. 3222) - Pak Chong District (National Highway No. 2, Mittraphap Road), then head to Nakhon Ratchasima Province or from Ban Na Rai District take National Highway No. 33 to Kabin Buri District towards Aranyaprathet District.

     Route 4: From Bangkok to Chachoengsao Province (National Highway No. 314 or National Highway No. 304) - Phanom Sarakham District - Kabin Buri District - Wang Nam Khiao District - Pak Thong Chai District (National Highway No. 304), then head to Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

     Route 5: From Bangkok to Wang Noi District (National Highway No. 1, Phahonyothin Road) - Saraburi Province - Pak Chong District - Sikhio District (National Highway No. 2, Mittraphap Road) - Special Highway No. 6 (Bypass at km 65+900), then head to Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

Routes from Bangkok to the Eastern Region:

     Route 1: From Bangkok to Chonburi Province (Motorway No. 7, Bangkok - Chonburi - Pattaya - Map Ta Phut route)

     Route 2: From Bangkok to Bang Pakong District (National Highway No. 34, Theparat Road), then head to Chonburi Province using National Highway No. 3, Sukhumvit Road.

     Route 3: From Bangkok to Phanat Nikhom District - Chonburi Province (National Highway No. 304)

     Route 4: From Bangkok to National Highway No. 34, Theparatna Road - Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na - Chonburi), then head to Chonburi Province using National Highway No. 3, Sukhumvit Road.

Routes from Bangkok to the Southern Region:

     Route 1: From Bangkok to Samut Sakhon Province - Samut Songkhram Province (National Highway No. 35, Rama II Road) - Wang Manao Intersection - Phetchaburi Province (National Highway No. 4, Phetkasem Road), then head to Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

     Route 2: From Bangkok to Sam Phran District - Nakhon Chai Si District - Nakhon Pathom Province - Ratchaburi Province - Wang Manao Intersection - Phetchaburi Province (National Highway No. 4, Phetkasem Road), then head to Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

     Route 3: From Bangkok to Borommaratchachonnani Road (National Highway No. 338, Pinklao - Nakhon Chai Si) - Nakhon Chai Si District - Nakhon Pathom Province - Ratchaburi Province - Wang Manao Intersection - Phetchaburi Province (National Highway No. 4, Phetkasem Road), then head to Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
