Cultural Tourism in Mueang Kong Community in Chiang Mai

Mueang Kong village is a small town located behind Luang Chiang Dao Mountain in Chiang Dao district in Chiang Mai. The village is surrounded by hills and mountains. The scenic views during the rainy season are especially picturesque, with the smoky gray color of the fog contrasting with the green of the mountains. There is a small stream called the Kong River running through the village. The peace, simplicity, and the locals are the charms of this small Kong village; the villagers live together in harmony. You can feel their friendliness, as almost everyone knows each other. The homestays are also supported by the villagers, and they also value and take care of the forestry resources. The people of the community can rely on themselves from what they have, such as plants, vegetables, and various kinds of herbs. During the farming season, you will see the beautiful green rice fields along the way, which is suitable for a trip if you want to take a rest and get plenty of fresh air.

Most of the Kong villagers work in agriculture – rice, potato, corn, and livestock. They also do crafts, such as weaving bamboo baskets.

In terms of tourist attractions, you’ll be fascinated with the beauty of nature, such as Dragon's Scale Cave (“bear poop cave”) and Emerald Cave (Morakot Cave) with stalactites in many shapes.  You can go on a bamboo raft for sightseeing at Huay Ngu Cave or Ao Cave Waterfall, or you can witness the beauty of the fog sea at Liam Hill. Another highlight of this place is staying at a homestay with the villagers, which is near the rice fields, as well as trying local food and doing activities. For those who are looking for a place to relax and that is surrounded by nature, Mueang Kong Village at Chiang Dao district in Chiang Mai is a must!
