Adventure tourism activity –– rafting the Khek River in Phitsanulok Province

The festival of "Khek River Rafting" is usually held between July and October of every year and is one of the top activities during the rainy season. For the brave and adventurous, rafting on the Khek River is one of the most exciting and well-known water sports in Thailand during the rainy season.

The rafting takes place in the Wang Thong District of Phitsanulok Province and is a well-known eco-adventure tourism activity that offers fun, excitement, and a touch of nature. It is suitable for tourists of all ages and genders.

The rafting activity is divided into 5 levels, ranging from level 1 for beginners to level 5 for advanced rafters. It involves paddling through 17 rapids over a distance of approximately 8 kilometers, starting from KM 52 and ending at KM 44. Depending on the water flow, the activity takes from 2 to 3 hours. It is considered a safe activity since tourists are given instructions and guidance by trained staff members before rafting. This includes training in paddling, following the flow of the water, getting in and out of the raft, and listening to the instructions of the boat leader and the captain. The staff members are trained in the international standards of rafting. Tourists are required to wear the appropriate safety equipment, such as life jackets and helmets, in order to reduce the risk of accidents.

If any tourists are interested in rafting, they must phone to inquire with the officer before each trip, because the water level of the Khek River fluctuates rapidly. If heavy rains have occurred, conditions will not be suitable for rafting.
