Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria for sustainability management and crisis risk management

      Thailand is one of the top destinations in the world for tourists who want to experience “Thainess,” because of the diverse natural resources such as the sea, mountains, and forest areas, as well as the benefits of traveling to cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, which meet the needs of many groups of tourists. As a result of the immense range of activities and locations, sustainable tourism is critical to preserving natural beauty, reducing tourist impact, and promoting overall development. Safety and crisis management are both critical. These factors, in addition to boosting consumer confidence, will contribute to the future development of the sustainable tourism market.

Risk and crisis management has the following criteria:

  1. The attraction has an appropriate risk management, crisis management, and emergency response plan;
  2. Important details are communicated to residents, tourists, and businesses;
  3. Response plans and procedures, as well as resources to implement the plan, are in place and are regularly updated.

Risk and crisis management indicators include:

  1. In tourist destinations, a risk reduction, crisis management, and contingency plan is documented;
  2. A variety of risk modes are considered in the plan, including natural disasters, terrorism, sanitation, resource shortages, and attraction-related issues;
  3. There are procedures for communicating during and after an emergency;
  4. There are programs available to provide locals with risk management information and training.
