Cannabis and beauty: Naturally healthy beauty

     The increasing use of cannabis is regarded as a very intriguing trend because it is an attractive option for the development of a variety of cosmetic products, including hair care products, skin care products, cosmetics, toothpaste, fragrances, and more. Regarding the properties of cannabis used in cosmetic production, researchers have concluded that cannabis has special properties for skin care, including anti-aging for the face, and anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-sun-induced wrinkle properties, as well as stimulating the production of collagen for the skin.

Cannabis Constituents Used in the Making of Cosmetics

     The cannabis extract used in cosmetics should be extracted from standardized cannabis seedlings that contain cannabinoid-like compounds. Cannabidol (CBD), which has no effect on the nervous system, is not psychoactive, and has no negative effects, can be used as a cosmetic ingredient. Numerous cosmetic products incorporating cannabis have been developed, including skin care products, hair care products, cosmetics, toothpaste, and perfumes, among others. Regarding the cosmetic benefits of cannabis, researchers note that it contains antioxidants that inhibit cell degeneration and reduce inflammation of the skin, thereby making the skin elastic, smooth, and youthful. As a result, cannabis can be used as an ingredient in cosmetics.

Cannabis Concentration in Cosmetics

     According to their respective national regulations, various nations’ products contain varying concentrations of cannabis:

  • European countries set it at no more than 0.2%;
  • Australia at no more than 0.5-1%;
  • Thailand at no more than 0.2%.

     The Ministry of Public Health’s most recent statement regarding the classification of narcotic substances in Category 5, allows extracts or products derived from extracts that contain  CBD as the primary component and no more than 0.2% THC tetrahydrocannabinol.

Beauty Benefits of Cannabis and Hemp

     Rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9, which are essential fatty acids for the skin, hemp seed oil helps repair and strengthen the skin’s protective barrier, combats free radicals, and stimulates the skin’s collagen production.

     While CBD has anti-inflammatory properties and decreases excess oil excretion, it also helps to reduce and prevent acne. It also has antioxidant properties, which help to prevent wrinkles and reduce skin irritation in people with sensitive skin. It is clear that there are numerous advantages for skin maintenance.
