Customs clearance procedures for importation of privileged goods
The importers must submit an application for duty exemption along with supporting documents at the Duty Exemption and Investment Promotion Sub-Division, Central Service Division of Bangkok Port Customs Office or the port of entry.
Customs officers consider the eligibility for duty exemption, examine the documents submitted, and check the calculation of the price of goods. If the documents are all correct, they will be returned to the importer.
The importers or their agents must prepare and submit import declaration information and present the declaration form and the supporting documents at the Customs Service Division in order to release the imported goods from customs custody.
Regarding goods under the Florence Agreement by the Committee on Import Duties Exemption on Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Materials, the importer must submit an application for duty exemption at the Office of the Secretariat of the Thai National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, for approval prior to the importation of such goods. Once the duty exemption has been approved, the Customs Department will send the United Nations National Committee on Science Education's duty exemption application to the customs clearance authority of the import for customs clearance for the importer.
