Criteria for taking corpses or human ashes out of Thailand

     Any person wishing to take human corpses or ashes out of Thailand must prepare documents to be submitted for consideration of export customs formalities. Exporters are not required to submit an Export Declaration Form to export corpses or human ashes out of the country. However, they must present the following documents to Customs officers:

1. The exporters must present the original and 2 copies of each of the following documents:

 - Original and 2 copies of the death certificate issued by the hospital where the deceased was treated (in case of death elsewhere, a report must be made to the local police in the area in which the person passed away to verify the death before issuing a death certificate);
 - Original and 2 copies of death certificate issued by the police station of the deceased, or a death certificate certified by the Thai authorities (i.e., district/ district offices in the area in which the person passed away);
 - Original and 2 copies of passport;
 - Original and 2 copies of a letter from the embassy of the destination country to certify bringing human remains from Thailand;
 - Original and 2 copies of air way bill;
 - Air freight invoice.

2. The exporters must present all of the documents in item 1 to Customs officers at the release port for the release of the human remains; 

3. The exporters must list the human remains with details in the Customs Control Register List.
