Procedures for renewing carbon reduction label. How can it be used without risking fines or imprisonment?

      If a business is using carbon reduction labels, and if the labels expire in 180 days and it wishes to continue using them, it must hurry, as, if they are used after they expire, the business owner risks imprisonment and fines of hundreds of thousands of baht. The procedures for renewing the labels are as follows:

(1) When requesting to renew the carbon reduction label, the applicant must submit the application form for carbon reduction label renewal together with supporting documents for consideration and pay the preliminary fee, as shown in the schedule, to the staff of the Thailand Environment Institute.

  • Application form for carbon reduction label renewal:
  • Supporting documents for label renewal application:
  • Product details with product samples;
  • Factory Operation License;
  • Certification or a copy of the Company Partnership Registration Office showing the name of the person(s) authorized to act on behalf of the juristic person applying for the license;
  • Production process factory layout;
  • Data on the use of resources in the production process, including the amount of raw materials, power source, and type of fuel used, specifying the quantity used and its source;
  • Details of the treatment system or pollution elimination;
  • Details of the source of pollution and the amount of pollution released into the environment;
  • Waste recovery systems, such as heat recovery systems;
  • Documents on energy conservation measures in certified factories;
  • Details and number of trademarks contracted for production (in case of contract manufacturing);
  • The origin and properties of raw materials, procedures or production processes, transportation and distribution, the nature of the product's use, and the end-of-life handling of the product reflect the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (in the case of processes in the product life cycle);
  • Other documents demonstrating reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

The applicant must fill in the details completely.

(2) Upon receiving the application, the Committee Secretary will conduct a document review and preliminary document analysis, and visit the factory to verify the accuracy of the information.

(3) After reviewing and analyzing the preliminary documents, the Committee Secretary will collect the documents to submit to the technical working group for further detailed technical review. The technical working team may visit the applicant’s factory before submitting the assessment results to the committee certifying the reduction or avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions.

(4) The GHG emission reduction or avoidance certifying committee will consider approving the renewal of the carbon reduction label. The Committee Secretary will notify the submitter of the approval result.

(5) Once the carbon reduction label registration has been approved, the applicant pays the remaining carbon reduction label renewal fee. The Committee Secretary will prepare an agreement for permission to use carbon reduction labels for the applicant.
