Summary of 4 Key Highlights! BIMSTEC Leaders' Summit 2024 Hosted by Thailand

"Thailand Hosts the Major Event: 6th BIMSTEC Leaders' Summit" at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, on September 3-4, 2024, to strengthen the ties among countries in the Bay of Bengal region! This summit marks a significant step towards fostering cooperation and development in the region.

The key points of interest in the meeting include four main topics as follows:

1. PRO BIMSTEC: Thailand aims for our region to be "Prosperous, Resilient, Open, and Sustainable." We will collaborate on development in all aspects, including economy, society, and environment.

2. Bangkok Vision 2030: To achieve PRO BIMSTEC, all member countries must adapt towards greater regional integration and sharing to ensure widespread prosperity.

3. BCG Economic Model: Thailand advocates for member countries to adopt the BCG economic model (Bio-Circular-Green Economy) to drive sustainable economic growth.

4. BIMSTEC Young Entrepreneur Forum: Thailand proposes to host the BIMSTEC Young Entrepreneur Forum, providing a platform for youth to present their innovative business ideas, fostering new innovations in the region.

This BIMSTEC Summit marks a promising beginning towards creating a future of shared wealth and sustainability. Thailand plays a crucial role as a bridge between BIMSTEC and ASEAN, connecting the markets of South Asia and Southeast Asia with a combined population of over 4.7 billion people. This close cooperation covers multiple dimensions, including geography, economy, society, culture, language, and religion. Thailand must be a key driver in advancing the BIMSTEC Free Trade Agreement to success.
