ASEAN Nations Praise Host’s Hospitality SAT Affirms Nakhon Ratchasima’s Readiness to Host Future International Events

Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), spoke about Nakhon Ratchasima’s role as the host of the "13th ASEAN Para Games" held from January 20-26, 2026. He stated that he had the opportunity to speak with international athletes, officials, and foreign media to ask about their feelings or suggestions for improvement in hosting this event. It was found that the overall feedback was excellent. Everyone expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome from the Thai people and Nakhon Ratchasima Province, which facilitated them very well.

The SAT Governor continued that hosting this event demonstrated that Nakhon Ratchasima is very ready, especially regarding sports for people with disabilities. Besides having consistent experience in hosting sports events, the province also has equipment and stadiums that meet high world-class standards. For instance, in wheelchair racing, the best competition stadium in Thailand is in Nakhon Ratchasima. It is considered the only place in Thailand where the wheelchair racing track meets the same standards as the Paralympic Games. Therefore, the potential to build upon this by bringing various sports events to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima in the future is highly probable. The SAT will discuss with relevant parties in dimensions of both para-sports and other sports. Nakhon Ratchasima is capable of hosting world-class sports events.

"Normally, Nakhon Ratchasima is already a venue for organizing major international sports such as Volleyball or Futsal. The sports fans in Nakhon Ratchasima also have a very good response to sports organization, including the private sector, large shopping malls, and local government agencies. After this, we will likely discuss how to distribute major events to Nakhon Ratchasima, but I confirm that there will definitely be some," Dr. Gongsak said.
