Visit to Border Areas by Four Ministers to Provide Support for Local Residents and Plan Prepared to Help Thais in Cambodia
▪️Four ministers are on a visit to border provinces impacted by escalating tensions with Cambodia, following the instruction given by Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. The visit aims to provide support for residents in high-risk areas.
Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai has been dispatched to Surin Province; Minister of Tourism and Sports Sorawong Thienthong to Buri Ram; Minister of Justice Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong to Si Sa Ket; and Deputy Minister of Interior Theerarat Samrejvanich to Ubon Ratchathani. Each minister is tasked with leading on-the-ground coordination between local authorities and central government agencies to ensure swift and effective assistance.
▪️On 24 July, Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa convened a virtual meeting with relevant government agencies and executives from seven major Thai airlines to work out a contingency plan for Thai citizens in Cambodia. Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai AirAsia X, Bangkok Airways, Thai VietJet, Nok Air, and Thai Lion Air have all confirmed their readiness to operate special repatriation flights, if necessary, to help them return to Thailand.
