Celebrating the 74th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King
The Bureau of the Royal Household invites members of the public to sign their names expressing their best wishes to His Majesty the King online, on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 74th birthday anniversary this year. The online well-wishing platform is available at the website wellwishes.royaloffice.th from 26 to 30 July 2026.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (Rama X) was born in Bangkok on 28 July 1952. His Majesty was the only son, the second of four children, of King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (Rama IX) and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
His Majesty the King ascended the throne as King Rama X of the Royal House of Chakri, succeeding the late King Rama IX, who passed away on 13 October 2016. During the royal coronation ceremony of King Rama X in the Grand Palace, the King presented the First Royal Command: "We shall treasure, preserve, and build on our heritage and shall reign in righteousness for the great enduring good of the people.”
Since the start of his reign, His Majesty has carried forward his leadership as the pillar of the Thai nation for the happiness of the people, following the footsteps of his Royal Parents in easing the people’s problems and improving their well-being.
His Majesty recognizes the importance of restoring ancient canals that were once degraded and encroached upon, such as the canals around the Rattanakosin Island in Bangkok's old city, Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, and Khlong Prem Prachakhon. These canals have been transformed from polluted ditches into clean, vibrant public spaces, pedestrian walkways, and eco-friendly transport routes.
In honor of His Majesty the King on the occasion of his birthday this year, the public and private sectors are organizing jointly the event “River of Life: Preserving Rattanakosin Heritage under Royal Benevolence,” scheduled for 24-31 July at Mahakan Fort Park on Maha Chai Road in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. The event features many cultural activities, such as music performances, cultural shows, and street art.
Members of the public have been encouraged to unite their hearts as one and show their loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the King on this special occasion.
