Thailand expressed its readiness to host the World Horticultural Expo in Nakhon Ratchasima province (Korat) titled “Korat Expo 2029” to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Executive Committee during the meeting in Paris, France. On this occasion, the initiative received praise for its progress and commitment to organizing a world-class event.
The key highlight of this meeting is that BIE plans to implement the A1-level "World EXPO event management system" for the first time in Korat Expo 2029. This is expected to enhance the intensity and transparency in evaluating host countries. As a result, the Thai government aims to elevate Korat to a Smart Green City and a global center for agriculture and food (the Kitchen of the World / Kitchen of the Future) through modern technology and sustainable development. The "Korat Expo 2029" project is driven by five main pillars: food, energy, environment, technology, and tourism/culture.
The project also strives to accelerate the development of infrastructure in Nakhon Ratchasima Province (Host City), create a comprehensive Master Plan, and accommodate international participants. Thailand is scheduled to present its progress to the BIE Executive Committee again in September 2026 and is expected to receive official approval at the 179th BIE General Assembly in November 2026 (184 member countries).
