Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume Exhibition in Japan

The Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo is pleased to invite you to the “Chud Thai: The Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” Exhibition organised by the Ministry of Culture of Thailand from Thursday, 17 September to Friday, 18 September 2026, at the Hyokeikan, Tokyo National Museum.

The exhibition will feature all eight styles of Chud Thai Phra Ratchaniyom (Thai National Costume), together with the Thai Royal Court’s artisanal crafts demonstration, such as the traditional ancient threadwork, the art of traditional frame embroidery, and traditional silver and goldsmithing. The programme will also include special lectures by Assistant Professor Dr. Anucha Thirakanont, Director of the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (SACIT), and Mrs. Piyavara Teekara Netnoi, Director of the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.

Exhibition — 4 time slots (10:00 - 11:00 hrs., 11:00 -12:00 hrs., 14:00 - 15:00 hrs. and 15:00 - 16:00 hrs.) 

Special Lecture — 1 session at 14:00 - 16:00 hrs. 

Friday, 18 September 2026

Exhibition — 2 time slots (10:00 - 11:00 hrs. and 11:00 - 12:00 hrs.) 

Special Lecture — 1 session at 14:00 - 15:00 hrs. 

Kindly note that a separate RSVP is required for the exhibition and the special lecture. As capacity for each exhibition time slot and the special lecture is limited, admission will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
