Warning for Heavy Rain Across Thailand Through 27 Sep

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued its eighth warning for heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand through September 27. Heavy rainfall is forecast in the North, lower Northeast, Central region, Bangkok and surrounding provinces, East, and South, with very heavy rain possible in some areas.

The weather is being driven by a deepening low-pressure system moving across Thailand and a stronger southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand. The TMD warned of possible flash floods and runoff, especially near waterways, along foothills, and in low-lying areas.

Residents in vulnerable communities are advised to closely monitor weather conditions and avoid traveling through flooded routes. Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate, with waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand and upper Andaman Sea reaching 2 to 3 meters and rising above 3 meters during thunderstorms.

Waves in the lower Gulf and lower Andaman Sea are forecast at about 2 meters. Small vessels in the upper Gulf and upper Andaman Sea should remain ashore through September 27, while all vessels should avoid thunderstorms and monitor official TMD weather updates.
