Transport Ministry Unveils Helicopter and Flood Plans for IMF Meetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn has outlined transport preparations for the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, taking place 12-18 October 2026.

▪️Air travel
Airports of Thailand (AOT) and Thai Airways are coordinating to prevent flight delays and baggage backlogs. Thai Airways is now fully operational, and its baggage system is running normally.

▪️Land transport
Traffic on expressways and motorways will be managed during the holidays. The Deputy urged citizens to move their vehicles out of flood-prone areas. If owners cannot be reached, the Department of Highways, the Department of Rural Roads, and the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) will relocate the vehicles to safe areas to prevent damage.

▪️Flood response
In case of heavy rain and flooding, the Ministry of Transport will coordinate with the military and the Royal Thai Police to provide helicopter services to transport attendees to safe locations. High-clearance tow trucks will also be pre-positioned.

These comprehensive measures aim to ensure seamless travel and safety for all IMF participants throughout the event.
