The Thai Health Promotion Foundation collaborates with the Department of Mental Health and networks to pilot the development of a mental health index in 15 areas across the country.

The Office of the Health Promotion Fund (ThaiHealth), in collaboration with the National Health Foundation (NHF) and various network partners, have initiated the development of an innovation project titled ‘Community Mental Health Indicator Index’. The objectives are to assess mental health and develop preventive measures for mental health issues. Activities such as the ‘Community Empowerment Forum for Mental Health Promotion’ have been organized to provide opportunities for all sectors to participate in exchanging ideas and experiences.

The project began with four main concepts:

  • Development of Academic Knowledge: This involves enhancing the understanding and expertise in various academic fields.
  • Promotion of Mental Health for All Ages: The initiative aims to foster mental well-being among individuals across different life stages.
  • Support for Public Policy: This aspect focuses on advocating for policies that benefit mental health at the community and national levels.
  • Awareness of Mental Health Issues: It seeks to increase public knowledge and understanding of mental health challenges.

Collaborations with various agencies, such as the Department of Mental Health and Sri Thanyaburi Hospital, have led to the creation of a practical model that can be implemented in communities nationwide. The goal is to advance this policy to a national level, ensuring that mental health care is accessible to everyone. This project will elevate the mental health standards of the population and foster community awareness, which can positively impact quality of life sustainably.
