The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has introduced premium tourist train rental services as part of its strategy to enhance the country’s rail travel image and meet evolving lifestyle demands. The initiative combines leisure, tourism, and business functions into a seamless travel experience, responding to the growing popularity of train journeys that allow passengers to enjoy scenic views in a relaxed atmosphere.
According to SRT officials, rail transport is also gaining attention as an energy-efficient option, capable of carrying large numbers of passengers while reducing per capita energy consumption compared to other modes of travel. This aligns with national efforts to promote sustainable transportation and optimize resource utilization. The SRT is encouraging both public and private sectors to consider chartering trains for tourism, corporate activities, and special events.
Among the highlights are luxury train options such as the SRT Royal Blossom, featuring elegant cherry-red and gold interiors, the Japanese-style KIHA 183 train known for its panoramic windows and comfortable seating, and the SRT Prestige, designed for business travelers with onboard meeting facilities. These offerings aim to stimulate domestic tourism, distribute income to local communities, and
strengthen Thailand’s grassroots economy while redefining rail travel as a premium and versatile experience.
