The Thai cabinet recently approved a new incentive for foreign film productions, offering cash rebates ranging from 15% to 30% with no upper refund limit, effective January 1, 2025.
Foreign film productions investing at least 20 million baht, or about US$1.47 million, in Thailand will receive a 15% primary rebate and an additional rebate of up to 15%. For investments of at least 100 million baht, or about US$2.94 million, the primary rebate increases to 20% with an additional rebate of up to 10%.
This cash rebate program aims to attract high-budget foreign film productions to Thailand, enhancing the nation's competitiveness in the international film industry. By positioning Thailand as a leading filming destination in Asia, this initiative will stimulate domestic economic growth, create employment opportunities, and foster the development of the creative industries.
Having generated US$470 million in revenue from international film productions between 2017 and 2024, Thailand's film industry is experiencing significant growth and improvement, positioning itself to become a leading global film destination.
