Thailand Turning Global Change into Opportunity

Thailand Turning Global Change into Opportunity

At the Bank of America forum in Bangkok, held in collaboration with CNN on 15 October, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul laid out how Thailand plans to turn global economic shifts into investment, skilled jobs, and technological progress.

The government's 3 key priorities:
 ✅ Economic stability
 ✅ Structural reform
 ✅ Investment in future industries

Key numbers:
● International reserves of around US$276 billion (as of September 2026), a strong buffer against global uncertainty
● Investment promotion applications hit US$43.6 billion in the first half of 2026, up 37% year-on-year, driven by digital infrastructure and advanced industries

■ What's next?
The Prine Minister stressed that investor interest must become real projects, bringing technology transfer, high-skilled jobs, and more opportunities for Thai businesses to partner with international investors.

He also highlighted cooperation with ASEAN on financial connectivity, digital payments, energy security, and regional infrastructure.

The 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok will be a key opportunity to advance global cooperation on sustainable finance and economic resilience, helping prepare Thailand for long-term growth.
