The Thai Cabinet has given the green light to the second phase of a high-speed railway project, which will extend the line from Nakhon Ratchasima Province to Nong Khai Province.
This second phase is part of a larger national high-speed rail project that will eventually connect Bangkok to Nong Khai Province. It will then link up with the Laos-China high-speed railway, boosting regional connectivity.
The Bangkok-Nong Khai high-speed railway, which is expected to be completed in 2032, is being built in two phases.
The first section connecting Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima Province, is scheduled to become operational in 2028. And construction on the second section, from Nakhon Ratchasima Province to Nong Khai Province, is planned to start this year.
Thailand is striving to become the regional center for transportation and connectivity.
