Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister, Prasert Jantararuangtong, revealed that Thailand has held bilateral discussions with its neighboring countries, including Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia, to address the growing issue of cross-border crime, particularly call scams. These scams pose a significant threat to the ASEAN Community. They have all agreed to work closely on this matter via the signing of MOUs.
Furthermore, during the 5th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (5th ADGMIN), all ASEAN nations reported facing similar threats. Recognizing the need for concerted action against this regional challenge, Thailand is leading the effort to enhance ASEAN cooperation in combating cross-border crime. Call scams were discussed as a key agenda item by the ASEAN Digital Ministers at this meeting.
