Thailand Recognised as a Low-Risk Travel Destination by the United States

US Travel Advisory upgrade bolsters global confidence in Thai tourism.

Bangkok, 15 June 2025 – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand has welcomed the

latest update from the U.S. Department of State, which has classified Thailand as a “Level 1

– Exercise Normal Precautions” destination in its updated Travel Advisory, released on 9 June

2025. This top-tier rating recognises Thailand as one of the world’s safest countries for

international travel.

Mr. Sorawong Thiengthong, Minister of Tourism and Sports, expressed his appreciation

to the U.S. government for its recognition of Thailand’s safety and hospitality standards. “This

is wonderful news for Thai tourism,” he said. “Being listed among the safest travel destinations

by the United States significantly reinforces global confidence in visiting Thailand.”

Thailand now joins an exclusive group of countries, including Japan, Australia, Canada, and

Singapore, that are also classified at Level 1. This ranking is expected to have a positive

impact on international tourism sentiment, especially among high-spending markets like the

United States, where travellers seek safe and quality destinations.

Mr. Sorawong added, "The new travel advisory is not only a boost for traveller confidence but

also a strong signal for the Thai tourism industry. It benefits our hotels, restaurants, and

tourism-related businesses across the country, creating job opportunities, stimulating

grassroots economies, and driving Thailand forward as a 'Quality Destination' on the global

stage.”

As part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, the Kingdom reaffirms

its commitment to welcoming visitors with signature Thai hospitality, world-class events, and

the highest standards of safety—ensuring a memorable and secure travel experience for all.
