Thailand Moves Towards Becoming a Health Hub: FDA Promotes GIP Plus Standard to Build Private Sector Confidence

Thailand is on its way to becoming a global health hub! The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is promoting the Good Import Practice (GIP) Plus standard to streamline product inspection and clearance processes, thereby enhancing the confidence of private enterprises. This initiative aims to promote the importation of high-standard health products.

Mr. Lertchai Lertvut, Deputy Secretary-General of the FDA, revealed that GIP Plus is a new standard developed from the existing GIP criteria. It incorporates principles of good governance and ethics into the importation of health products. This standard not only elevates the quality of importers but also offers special privileges such as automated product release (LPI green line) and expedited service (GIP Lane), which streamline the process and save time, making the importation process faster. Additionally, a Helper Team is available to offer  guidance, ensuring that the importers adhere to regulatory requirements and can import goods accurately and safely. The GIP Plus standard is set to enhance the confidence of the private sector and competitiveness in the global market.

The FDA's promotion of the GIP Plus standard not only elevates the standard of importing health products in Thailand but also marks a significant step towards establishing Thailand as a global health hub.
