Thailand Leaps Forward! Climbs 5 Ranks in Global Competitiveness Index Aims to Enhance Education and Healthcare Systems

Good news! Thailand has risen by 5 ranks in the Global Competitiveness Index by the World Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland for 2024. While this is a reason to celebrate, the 25th place is not the pinnacle that we should rest on. Dr. Theeranun Srihong, Chairman of the Center for Competitiveness Development at the Thailand Management Association (TMA), stated that education and healthcare remain weak points that need further development.

Why are education and healthcare important?

  • Investing in quality education will help create skilled and knowledgeable individuals ready for the future.
  • Efficient healthcare services will reduce expenses and increase the country's productivity.

Who should be involved in developing education and healthcare?

  1. Government: Allocate budget to genuinely support education and healthcare; plan and manage resources effectively.
  2. Business Sector: Invest and support projects that develop education and healthcare, create opportunities for Thais to learn and develop skills.
  3. Education Sector: Reform the education system, focus on developing skills necessary for the 21st century, inspire children to pursue learning.
  4. Civil Society: Campaign and raise awareness about the importance of education and healthcare, support various projects aimed at developing Thai people.
It is clear that everyone and every sector can help elevate Thailand's education and healthcare, laying a strong foundation for a sustainable future for the country.
