Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun has led 20 Thai businesses to the Bharat Nutraverse Expo 2026 in New Delhi on September 9, 2026, to promote Thailand’s strengths in herbal products, functional foods, nutraceuticals, and wellness services.
The event was attended by senior dignitaries from both nations, including Thai Trade Representative Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Thailand’s Permanent Secretary for Commerce Vuttikrai Leewiraphan, Indian’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry Additional Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav, Joint Secretaries Mohit Yadav and Amit Verma, Ministry of Food Processing Industries Joint Secretary Devesh Deval, and representatives from Thai and Indian agencies.
The Thailand Pavilion, organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), features Thai businesses in four categories: functional ingredients, functional food and beverages, supporting industries, and nutraceutical and wellness services.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Thailand and India have complementary strengths. India offers extensive herbal resources, biodiversity, and Ayurvedic expertise, while Thailand provides a strong agricultural and food-processing base, biodiversity, food innovation, and a growing wellness sector.
Thailand aims to move beyond conventional trade toward a co-creation model, where businesses from both countries combine raw materials, knowledge, technology, and innovation to develop new products for India, Thailand, and other markets.
The Deputy Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between India’s Shellac & Forest Products Export Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL) and the Thai Herbal Industry Association (THIA). The agreement aims to promote cooperation in herbal and nutraceutical products through knowledge exchange, innovation, trade, and investment.
The Commerce Ministry expects stronger business-to-business links to enhance supply-chain agility and create new opportunities for Thai products in the global health and wellness market.
Thai exhibitors also met with Indian businesses and international buyers to discuss potential product development and market expansion.
