Thailand Explores Ambitious Plan to Bring Disneyland and an 80,000-Seat Stadium to the EEC.

Thailand is studying the possibility of bringing Disneyland to the country as part of a major development push in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport revealed that the EEC Office has been instructed to prepare land for an international stadium with 80,000 seats and to examine the feasibility of hosting a world-class theme park.

The EEC Office has been tasked with identifying suitable areas across Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, and Chanthaburi, working with relevant agencies to accelerate planning. With many countries competing for major global investments, Thailand aims to position itself as an attractive destination for both sports and large-scale entertainment ventures.

The government plans to prepare land not exceeding 4.8 million square metres to support these developments. Upcoming infrastructure projects—including high-speed rail connecting three airports and expanded airport capacity in the eastern region—are expected to strengthen the feasibility of bringing Disneyland and the stadium to Thailand. Private concessionaires of the airport-link high-speed rail project will soon be invited to share input on the proposals.

While the projects may not be completed within the current government’s term, early groundwork is seen as a strategic move to create long-term investment opportunities and establish the EEC as a leading hub for tourism, sports, and entertainment in the future.
