The Thai Cabinet has approved the new law for prevention and suppression of cybercrime, expected to be in effect this February.
The aim of the law is to polish the current law enacted in 2023 to be up to date, compatible with development of digital era, and efficiently handle online scam.
The amendments include an empowerment for public officials and phone service providers to withhold suspicious phone numbers, improvement of rapid case consideration and victim compensation, and involvement of social media service providers, phone service providers, and financial institutions in ocurred damage responsibility.
