Thailand and the UK Strengthen CCUS Collaboration to Accelerate Clean Energy Transition and Support National Net-Zero Goals

Thailand and the United Kingdom have deepened their cooperation on advancing carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies through a technical exchange workshop aimed at supporting Thailand’s national roadmap for CCUS development. The program gathered experts from both countries across multiple sectors to exchange policy insights, technical knowledge, and regulatory perspectives essential for Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon economy. The workshop forms part of an ongoing collaboration designed to enhance Thailand’s capacity to respond to climate change and accelerate its clean energy transformation.

During the multi-day program, UK specialists shared key lessons from the country’s national CCUS strategy, including regulatory frameworks, investment mechanisms, and project implementation experiences. These insights wereincorporated into discussions with Thai stakeholders to support the formulation of policies suited to Thailand’s industrial and energy context. The initiative aligns with Thailand’s strategic goal to expand CCUS deployment and complements the country’s broader ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

In addition to technical workshops, the program included field visits to the Eastern Economic Corridor, enabling experts to assess Thailand’s infrastructure readiness for future CCUS applications. The collaboration underscores Thailand’s commitment to scaling up clean energy innovations and strengthening its scientific and technological capabilities. It also highlights the importance of international cooperation in building a sustainable, competitive, and carbon-neutral future for the country.
