Thailand and Laos are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations with a special joint stamp collection that highlights their shared history and cultural bonds.
The commemorative stamps feature the Naga, a mythical serpent revered in both countries as a guardian of the Mekong River, which links the two nations. Chosen as a common symbol, the Naga reflects friendship, cooperation, and the deep spiritual heritage rooted along the riverbanks.
The collection includes two different designs, one created by each country’s postal service, symbolising mutual respect and collaboration under the theme of being “good neighbours.” Each design interprets the Naga in its own artistic style while conveying shared beliefs in protection, prosperity, and harmony.
The release is more than a philatelic event. It serves as a cultural bridge, marking a historic milestone and passing on the story of Thai–Lao friendship to future generations.
Available through post offices and official channels, the stamps offer collectors and the public a chance to commemorate a long-standing partnership shaped by geography, culture, and enduring diplomatic ties.
