Thailand Advances in Enhancing Demonstration School Teachers' Capabilities to Create PISA-Based Exams Effectively Towards International Standards

On October 27, 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) held a workshop on creating and developing test questions to assess reading literacy, science, and mathematics for lower secondary education. The aim was to strengthen the capabilities of teachers in demonstration schools across the country, enabling them to build a quality PISA-based exam bank that can be continuously utilized to enhance student development. The event took place at the Century Park Hotel in Bangkok, with Dr. Panpoemsak Arunyi presiding over the opening ceremony.

This workshop was a follow-up from an online training session conducted earlier in October 2024 and emphasized practical exercises, including critique and revision of created test questions. Participants also gained insights from experts in various fields to prepare for the 2025 PISA assessment and elevate Thai education to international standards. The PISA framework assessment enhances essential skills needed for modern students, such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.

This training initiative marks an important step in truly developing teacher capabilities and Thailand's educational system, preparing Thai youth to confidently compete on the global stage.
