Thai PM Pushes 3-Pillar Strategy to Drive "Zero Corruption"

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul recently delivered a special keynote address on "Zero Corruption: From Policy to Action," under the topic "The Government's Drive for Thailand Toward Zero Corruption and Sustainable Growth." He underscored that corruption undermines public trust, the rule of law, and the economy.

To illustrate the stakes, the Prime Minister cited the recent local civil service exam scandal, in which altered scores deprived honest candidates of opportunities. He also emphasized that the government is cracking down on the network under the principle of "Focus on Behavior, Not Names," tracing wrongdoing back to the masterminds.

To achieve Zero Corruption, the government's anti-corruption strategy rests on three key pillars:
• Close the loop on corruption opportunities: Reduce excessive power, balance decision-making, and ensure early-stage transparency in licensing and procurement.
• Open doors for scrutiny: Strengthen transparency both internally and externally, and use technology and AI to detect fiscal and procurement anomalies.
• Close all loopholes for abuse of power: Take decisive legal action, extend investigations to masterminds and beneficiaries, and recover assets without exception.

The government also aims to raise Thailand's administrative standards to those of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), preventing conflicts of interest, enhancing transparency, and establishing a new normal of good governance.

The Premier reaffirmed his commitment to a corruption-free Thailand, where integrity becomes a reality and honest citizens can truly thrive.
