Thai PM Charms World Economic Leaders at 2026 IMF–World Bank Reception
On the evening of 16 October, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul hosted the Thai Government Reception for delegates of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings, marking Thailand's return as host nation after 35 years.
In his welcome remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted how Thai food brings people together and sustains livelihoods across the country, from farmers and street vendors to chefs and restaurant owners. He spoke warmly of Thailand's living heritage: traditional cuisine, holistic wellness practices, and genuine hospitality, now flourishing into a modern wellness and longevity economy.
The Premier also celebrated the role of Thailand's younger generation in reimagining Thai identity through food, design, art, and creative industries — blending cultural heritage with innovation and technology to open new doors for the future. The PM invited global partners to join Thailand in building these opportunities together.
And in true Thai spirit, the night ended on a high note, literally. PM Anutin picked up a saxophone and serenaded guests, drawing warm applause and cheers from world leaders and delegates alike. A fitting, feel-good finale to Thailand's successful hosting of this year's IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings.
