The Thai Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, visited Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani to coordinate relief efforts, refining recovery plans, and distributing financial aid tailored to local needs during the severe flood situation in Thailand's southern provinces.
As of December 17, the DDPM confirmed ongoing flooding across six southern provinces, including Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, and Phatthalung. The flooding has impacted over 161,000 households.
Related agencies are strictly follow-up on the flood situation, providing update and warning, and dispatching aid to the flood-stricken areas. This includes essential supplies, for example, food and emergency kits, as well as necessary equipment.
In addition, the Thai Prime Minister has emphasized approaches to alleviate the situation:
1. Flood victim assistance including food and shelter and rehabilitation after the situation is better;
2. A flood warning in wide and clear manner especially areas with many tourists;
3. Accelerating recovery of waterworks and electricity as soon as possible;
4. Restoring roads damaged from flood and landslide.
