Royal Visit to China Sparks Surge in Chinese Tourist Confidence

Thailand is seeing a major boost in Chinese traveller confidence following the recent Royal visit to China, which generated widespread positive coverage across Chinese media and social platforms. Building on this momentum, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is launching new cultural promotions, travel campaigns, and partnerships designed to accelerate the return of Chinese tourists—both group tours and independent travellers.

Daily arrivals are projected to double from about 10,000 to as many as 25,000, driven by strong public enthusiasm and strategic marketing efforts. A four-part plan includes a cultural campaign highlighting Thai-Chinese connections, special promotions with online travel agencies, Chinese New Year 2026 tour packages, and newly developed community-based routes in Bangkok, Chonburi, and several provincial cities.

Industry feedback indicates that Thai cultural elements—particularly fabrics and food—surged in popularity online during the visit. The warm reception shown during the event has helped rebuild Thailand’s image among Chinese travellers.

For the remainder of the year, Thailand expects daily Chinese arrivals to reach 20,000–25,000, supporting its target of welcoming around 5 million Chinese visitors.
