Rent Relief for Thai-Cambodian Border Tenants

The Treasury Department has approved a two-month rent waiver for state property tenants in seven provinces impacted by recent unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Director-General of the Treasury Department, stated that the assistance follows clashes that began on July 24th, 2025. The unrest originated near Ta Muen Thom Temple in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, and later expanded to the provinces of Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram, and Sa Kaeo. The situation has affected public safety, damaged property, and disrupted livelihoods and businesses in the area.

This relief measure aligns with a Cabinet resolution from July 24th, 2025, which tasked the Ministry of Interior and related agencies with aiding affected citizens. The initiative also follows a directive from Deputy Finance Minister Paopoom Rojanasakul for the department to provide comprehensive support. The rent exemption applies to tenants in Surin, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat.

The measure, which sets rent to zero percent for two months, is available to all state land leaseholders within areas officially declared as affected zones. Impacted tenants can submit applications at their respective Provincial Treasury Offices starting from August 4th, 2025, to receive expedited assistance.
