Reflecting 35 Years from Bangkok 1991 to 2026: Thailand Partners with IMF-World Bank to Build Resilient, Inclusive, and Future-Ready Growth

The "Thailand Special Seminar: Bangkok 1991 - 2026: Thailand's Path to Resilient, Inclusive Growth" at the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok highlighted Thailand's 35-year economic journey since first hosting the meetings in 1991. Having overcome the 1997 Asian financial crisis and subsequent global shocks to build robust macroeconomic and financial stability, key policymakers and international panelists stressed that Thailand’s next phase of growth must focus on enhancing productivity, workforce reskilling, embracing digital transformation and AI, navigating the green energy transition, and integrating local SMEs into global supply chains—ensuring a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economy amid an increasingly fragmented global landscape.
