Queen Mother's Royal Crematorium Nears Completion
Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised has inspected the progress of the Royal Crematorium and other structures being prepared for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
Construction of the Royal Crematorium is now in its final stages. Work is focused on finishing the architectural details and installing four-faced Brahma figures on all four sides at the base of the spire.
The supporting buildings are expected to be finished in the first two weeks of November. This will prepare the site for the ceremonial raising of the Nine-Tiered Great White Umbrella later that month.
All work is being carried out in strict accordance with ancient royal traditions, with careful attention to safety and to the grandeur of the occasion.
