Remarks by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the ASEAN Future Forum 2026 in Vietnam

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul attended the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum in Hanoi, Vietnam. Held under the theme “Shaping our Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, People-Centered”, the forum gathered key ASEAN leaders to discuss the region's direction amidst global geopolitical and economic shifts.

Key highlights from the Prime Minister’s address include:

■ ASEAN as a Stable and Attractive Investment Destination: Despite global volatility, ASEAN has the potential to become one of the world's most stable regions and a prime destination for investment, growth, and innovation. PM Anutin emphasized the importance of maintaining ASEAN Centrality to promote peace and regional cooperation.

■ Enhancing Resilience and Connectivity: The PM welcomed the upcoming signing of the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) this year. He also promoted Thailand’s Southern Landbridge project as an alternative maritime route to secure global supply chains and highlighted Thailand’s readiness to supply aviation fuel to ASEAN partners through its surplus production capacity.

■ A People-Centered Approach: PM Anutin stressed that ASEAN’s success should be measured by the well-being, safety and confidence of its people. He called for closer ASEAN cooperation in addressing online scams, cyber threats, and climate change, while also emphasizing the importance of investing in education and healthcare for future generations.

■ Thai-Cambodian Relations: The PM noted that Thailand and Cambodia are at a defining moment in their bilateral relations, stressing that political will, mutual trust and sincere dialogue will be key to addressing shared challenges and opening a new chapter of peaceful partnership.

Thailand reaffirms its readiness to work closely with all ASEAN members and partners to translate this shared vision into concrete actions for the region’s future.
