Pattaya Opens 1337 Hotline for Flood Assistance

Pattaya City has opened its 1337 hotline, available around the clock, for residents seeking information or requesting sandbags to protect their homes from flooding. Authorities are also maintaining 24-hour surveillance of flood-prone areas as rainfall is expected from September 23 to 27.

Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet reported that about nine locations are vulnerable to flooding, with three under close watch: the railway road intersection in the Khao Talo area, Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya, and Pattaya Third Road near the former Mum Aroi restaurant. Officials will be stationed in these low-lying areas and may temporarily close affected roads if water levels make travel unsafe.

The city’s drainage system can handle about 60-70 millimeters of rainfall per day. During heavier rainfall of 100-120 millimeters, temporary flooding may occur and could take approximately one to three hours to drain, depending on local conditions. Personnel will remain on standby to accelerate drainage and assist affected communities.

Residents are also advised to keep garbage and debris away from drainage grates, storm drains, and channels to maintain water flow during heavy rain. Information and sandbag requests are available through the Pattaya Contact Center at 1337, which operates 24 hours a day.
