Get ready for an advanced travel experience! Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd. (AOT) is set to launch the Automated Biometric Identification System (Biometric System) on November 1, 2024, for domestic travelers, and on December 1, 2024, for international travelers. This system, utilizing facial recognition technology, will expedite travel by verifying passenger identity, reducing document checks and wait times across six major Thai airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai airports.
Passengers can register their facial data at check-in counters or self-check-in kiosks at the airport. Once registered, they can drop off their luggage, pass through security, and board flights without needing to show their passport or boarding pass. This initiative allows travelers more time to relax and enjoy airport shopping.
