Muaythai to take the global stage at the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, on 15 Oct

Muaythai is more than a sport or a competition. It is a valuable cultural asset that reflects Thailand’s national identity and heritage. This October, Muaythai will once again take the global stage, introducing audiences from around the world to this distinctive Thai martial art.

Hosted by Thailand, the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, taking place from 12 to 18 October at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, will bring together representatives from around the world to discuss and exchange views on global economic and financial issues.

Alongside the formal discussions, a Thai Cultural Show will offer participants an opportunity to experience Thailand’s rich arts and cultural heritage. One of the highlights will be a Muaythai performance on 15 October, showcasing the traditional techniques and movements of this iconic Thai martial art.

Beyond sport, Muaythai has also the potential to drive Thailand’s creative economy. As it gains greater international recognition, it can create opportunities across a range of related businesses, including training camps, tourism, sports products and equipment, health and fitness services, and experiences that attract international visitors to Thailand.

The Muaythai demonstration at this international gathering is more than a cultural performance. It is an opportunity to promote the country’s cultural heritage to the world, while highlighting the potential of its cultural assets to generate economic value.
