Landslide and Flash Flood Watch Issued for 15 Provinces

The Department of Mineral Resources has issued a landslide and flash-flood watch for 15 provinces from August 19 to 21, urging residents and local monitoring networks to remain vigilant during periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall.

The alert covers Nan, Phayao, Phrae, Uttaradit, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Mae Hong Son, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Volunteer networks have been instructed to track rainfall, while the department’s Geohazard Operation Center will monitor developments throughout the period.

Areas receiving more than 100 millimeters of rain within 24 hours could face increased risk. Residents are advised to watch for warning signs such as suddenly muddy water or debris flowing downstream, and those in low-lying, flood-prone areas should move belongings, livestock, and valuables to higher ground.

Vulnerable communities are also advised to maintain 24-hour surveillance and be ready to evacuate if conditions worsen. People should avoid crossing waterways during heavy rain or when water levels are rising rapidly, and keep emergency lighting readily available.
